Kafe de Laos is a family owned restaurant, all of our dishes is home cooked lao style. If you never ate laotian food before compared to thai dishes it is similar and different in some ways. We may use more peppers and use a lot of fresh herbs and spices . All of our food is eaten with sticky rice which is serve in a bamboo basket. We also have regualr jasmine rice to accomodate our customers. Laos food is one of the healtiest asian cuisine, but the food is overpowered with great flavor.
We like to keep home made style, the food is not well known to many people, the closest dish is thai food. Most lao family all know how to cook in laos. Our family like to keep that tradition here as well, I learn how to cook when I was about 8 years old , then I gradually learn more authentic lao dishes as I got older. If you have never tried any laos food I do recommend the larb and/or the papaya salad.
